UN Mountain Partnership’s 6th Annual Mountains Matter Conference

The IFMGA participated in the UN Mountain Partnership’s 6th Annual Mountains Matter Conference in Aspen Colorado yesterday with other delegates and stakeholders of mountains from around the world.

IFMGA board member and AMGA president Angela Hawse participated in a panel discussion on issues and potential solutions to Waste in the Mountains with our partners Bjorn Alfthan and Laurent Fouinat at Grid-Arendal and other UN representatives and mountain experts.

We shared the results of Plastics on the Peak: The 2021 Global Mountain Waste Survey that received input from 366 IFMGA guides, representing 20% of the total respondents from around the world.  This and the policy brief Keeping our Mountains Plastic Waste-Free also prepared by Grid-Arendal were well received by the delegates and are honored to be included.
