The IFMGA joins the Sports for Climate Action

On the General Assembly 2019, with the lead of the Environmental and Access Commission, former president Christian Thrommsdorf signed a commitment to implement the principles enshrined in the Sports for #ClimateAction Framework and to communicate this intention to our member associations and the general public, reporting publicly on progress.

This agreement, enlists the federation in the group of sports institutions working worldwide to with the sports community to combat climate change. This agreements include the measuring, reduction, and report of greenhouse gas emissions, in line with the well below 2 degree scenario enshrined in the Paris Agreement and using sports as a unifying tool to federate and create solidarity among global citizens for climate action.

For the IFMGA, the application of this agreement will be fundamental, as for our community, our environment is part of what we do and what drives our passion.
