General Meeting 2021 - Chamonix

For the past few days, representatives of all the IFMGA member associations gathered in Chamonix, France for the General Assembly 2021. The meeting, hosted by the Syndicat National des Guides de Montagne and the Chamonix Guides Company, started on the weekend with the 200th anniversary of the Chamonix Guides Company. According to the agenda, workshops were held on Monday and Tuesday, and on Wednesday, all countries gathered for the general assembly. There were many discussions regarding training, safety, memberships, and communication, and as a highlight of the event, we had new board members elected for the 2022 period. We welcome to the Managing Committee Urs Wellauer from Switzerland, Hervé Qualizza from France, Hampi Schoop from Switzerland, and Angela Hawse from the USA and Kurt Walde from Italy. At this first meeting after the global pandemic, we had the honor of welcoming the Georgia Mountain Guides Association as the newest member of the federation after fulfilling their candidacy process. It was a pleasure to meet again as a community and be able to work on the necessities and work of commissions and associations. See you next year!
